Hi Guys,
So with weekly blog Wednesday's mainly running the blog which is usually just some interesting facts and a quick progress update and information. It's now time to make way for the design blog and get into some serious stuff for all you techies out there. So lets get down to business. So with pi wars 2019 drawing nearer with a few weeks ago we came up with a design Here is a picture:
Design Drawn in 2D design
The Design was drawn out in a program called 2D design and exported as a DXF file to our laser cutter where it was then cut out. Here are the finished results:
The Design Cut Out
We initially thought that the screw holes would not fit but we soon found out that everything fit perfectly. The Pieces were then attached together with old brackets and pieces from mechano and the raspberry pi was then mounted into place and the motors were wired together and connected up to the raspberry pi.
We then connected the LED's to the raspberry pi and tested each colour here is how it looks.
The LED's
The LED's are color changing which means we can program the raspberry pi to output signals to the red blue and green contact pads on the LED strip to change its color.
We also got the motors moving but they didn't steer very well as the tires were gripping onto the floor and wasn't able to skid steer.
Tune In sometime next week or the week after to see how we solve this problem and tune in for weekly blog wednesday's.
